Studying in the US is not about getting a quality education, but it involves learning and sharing of cultural values and beliefs, finding a common ground to share issues and challenges, and seeking solutions keeping in view the available and limited resources. The recent changes in the student’s visa policy will affect hundreds of thousands of international students who are studying at different universities and paying high tuition fees just to fulfill their dreams in the “Land of Opportunities” to bring a positive change in society.
Usman A. Shamim (Founder, Chairman & CEO) at FBRC and who has been a Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow (2015-16), studied about Substance Abuse Education, Prevention, and Treatment at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), shared Pakistan's culture and built a strong professional and emotional bond with the people of America, and now through his non-profit organization known as Foundation for Building Resilient Community (FBRC), is putting all efforts to end Opioid Crises from Pakistan with the help of a like-minded group of people.
Mr. Usman A. Shamim on behalf of FBRC strongly condemns this announcement by the present government and urge to reconsider its decision which is based on unkindness and immaturity and going to hit the budgets of many universities where international students are their source of revenue and already suffering due to Covid-19, notes Reuters.
