Behind the Scenes
We know that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives, because we say what we do, we do what we say. Therefore back in January 2020, when the whole World was facing Covid-19 pandemic, a group of like-minded people under the auspices of Usman A. Shamim – a social activist working in the development sector since 2006 – realized that by working together we could overcome all challenges including substance abuse, natural disaster, and peacebuilding much more efficiently, and that is why we ultimately decided to launch Foundation For Building Resilient Community in Pakistan. FBRC is a non-profitable and non-governmental organization and its head office known as FBRC Secretariat is located in Lahore District of Punjab Province, Pakistan, while its geographical coverage includes the whole country and Balochistan particularly.
Mr. Shamim, from Quetta, Pakistan, earned his bachelor’s degree in economics in 2010 from Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences, and a master’s degree in international relations from the University of Balochistan. He has completed several training courses/workshops on disaster risk management, and the development of an outreach drop-in-center for drug addicts. He has also been a resource panelist for developing and editing a guidebook on drug outreach programs in Asia titled, “Concepts and Lessons Learnt” published by The Colombo Plan Drug Advisory Program Sri Lanka”. He has participated in the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program 2015 – 2016 in Richmond, Virginia USA where he learned about Substance Abuse Education, Prevention, and Treatment.
Being a founding member, he is currently heading FBRC as the Chairman and CEO. FBRC focuses on three thematic areas including (1) Substance Abuse Prevention (2) Natural Disaster Preparedness & Response (3) Peace Building in Conflicting Areas.
Here at FBRC, we’re committed to investing our expertise and resources to further achieve our cause. Since January 2020, we’ve been supporting our community members in a variety of ways and measuring our success not by monetary size, but by more qualitative measurements such as the scale and effectiveness of our efforts.

OUR OBJECTIVES
To increase awareness of the community members about use, misuse, and abuse of drugs through evidence-based drug prevention approaches;
To increase awareness of the community members about natural disasters and related consequences and to prepare them in advance to face such situations;
To educate the community members for peaceful living including teaching skills and methods for conflict resolution and violence prevention;
